Sedation Dentistry & Dental Anxiety
Sedation dentistry uses medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. It’s sometimes referred to as “sleep dentistry,” although that’s not entirely accurate. Patients are usually awake with the exception of those who are under general anesthesia.
The levels of sedation used include:
- Minimal sedation – you are awake but relaxed.
- Moderate sedation (formerly called “conscious sedation”) – you may slur your words when speaking and not remember much of the procedure.
- Deep sedation – you are on the edge of consciousness but can still be awakened.
- General anesthesia – you are completely unconscious.
Side effects from local anesthetics are very rare, and the anesthetic usually lasts for only a couple of hours.

Testimonials
My experience with the staff has been fantastic. Everyone from the hygienist to the technicians, to Dr. Babcock herself are always friendly, great at answering questions, take their time to do the work right.
She wasn’t worried about fixing my teeth and making it look pretty. She wanted to make things right. And that’s why I’ve stayed here, and I brought my children here, and we’ve been coming to Dr. Babcock for five years.
Time is very important to me, and I don’t want to sit around and wait a long time to get taken care of. I’m always in and out very quickly, which I appreciate tremendously. I feel very well cared for here.
